NEW PATENT GRANTED TO ARKALUMEN FOR PRECISE FLICKER-FREE CURRENT CONTROL

OTTAWA, ON (CANADA) – February 21, 2017.  Today, Ottawa-based lighting innovator Arkalumen Inc. has been awarded a new patent for groundbreaking technology in highly-precise current control within a light circuit.

US Patent No. 9,578,704 was granted on February 21, 2017.  The application of this innovation permits the meticulous adjustment of perceived flicker-free light, by dithering a control point within each of the voltage converters in order to increase resolution of the current control of the outputs.  The APT-CV5 controllers enabled with this technology can control each output channel to up to 64,000 levels of intensity. Now, a lighting system using this constant voltage technology can be precisely calibrated to generate exact points on the CIE black body curve, potentially achieving ultra-high CRI/R9 specified outputs.

Sean Murray, President of Arkalumen, announced the patent grant, saying, “We are very excited about receiving the patent on this technology as it can be a clear differentiator for the Arkalumen controllers.  With it, we can add ultra-accuracy to each output channel of our APT-CV controllers used in full spectrum color tuning applications to achieve incredibly beautiful light spectrums. The key for making color tuning practical is to keep it simple, precise and cost-effective, and that is what Arkalumen is focused on delivering.”
